1 CHRONIQUES 16 : 1 à 43 *** +
1 ¶ Après qu’on eut amené l’arche de Dieu, on la plaça au milieu de la tente que David avait dressée pour elle, et l’on offrit devant Dieu des holocaustes et des sacrifices d’actions de grâces.
2 Quand David eut achevé d’offrir les holocaustes et les sacrifices d’actions de grâces, il bénit le peuple au nom de l’Éternel.
3 Puis il distribua à tous ceux d’Israël, hommes et femmes, à chacun un pain, une portion de viande et un gâteau de raisins.
4 Il remit à des Lévites la charge de faire le service devant l’arche de l’Éternel, d’invoquer, de louer et de célébrer l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.

Lévites … service. Dès que l’arche fut sous la tente, les Lévites prirent leurs fonctions.
5 C’étaient : Asaph, le chef ; Zacharie, le second après lui, Jeïel, Schemiramoth, Jehiel, Matthithia, Éliab, Benaja, Obed-Edom et Jeïel. Ils avaient des instruments de musique, des luths et des harpes ; et Asaph faisait retentir les cymbales.
6 Les sacrificateurs Benaja et Jachaziel sonnaient continuellement des trompettes devant l’arche de l’alliance de Dieu.
7 ¶ Ce fut en ce jour que David chargea pour la première fois Asaph et ses frères de célébrer les louanges de l’Éternel.
8 Louez l’Éternel, invoquez son nom ! Faites connaître parmi les peuples ses hauts faits !
9 Chantez, chantez en son honneur ! Parlez de toutes ses merveilles !
10 Glorifiez-vous de son saint nom ! Que le cœur de ceux qui cherchent l’Éternel se réjouisse !
11 Ayez recours à l’Éternel et à son appui, Cherchez continuellement sa face !
12 Souvenez-vous des prodiges qu’il a faits, De ses miracles et des jugements de sa bouche,
13 Race d’Israël, son serviteur, Enfants de Jacob, ses élus !
14 L’Éternel est notre Dieu ; Ses jugements s’exercent sur toute la terre.
15 Rappelez-vous à toujours son alliance, Ses promesses pour mille générations,
16 L’alliance qu’il a traitée avec Abraham, Et le serment qu’il a fait à Isaac ;
17 Il l’a érigée pour Jacob en loi, Pour Israël en alliance éternelle,
18 Disant : Je te donnerai le pays de Canaan Comme l’héritage qui vous est échu.
19 Ils étaient alors peu nombreux, Très peu nombreux, et étrangers dans le pays,
20 Et ils allaient d’une nation à l’autre Et d’un royaume vers un autre peuple ;
21 Mais il ne permit à personne de les opprimer, Et il châtia des rois à cause d’eux:
22 Ne touchez pas à mes oints, Et ne faites pas de mal à mes prophètes !
23 Chantez à l’Éternel, vous tous habitants de la terre ! Annoncez de jour en jour son salut ;
24 Racontez parmi les nations sa gloire, Parmi tous les peuples ses merveilles !
25 Car l’Éternel est grand et très digne de louange, Il est redoutable par-dessus tous les dieux ;
26 Car tous les dieux des peuples sont des idoles, Et l’Éternel a fait les cieux.
27 La majesté et la splendeur sont devant sa face, La force et la joie sont dans sa demeure.
28 Familles des peuples, rendez à l’Éternel, Rendez à l’Éternel gloire et honneur !
29 Rendez à l’Éternel gloire pour son nom ! Apportez des offrandes et venez en sa présence, Prosternez-vous devant l’Éternel avec de saints ornements !
30 Tremblez devant lui, vous tous habitants de la terre ! Le monde est affermi, il ne chancelle point.
31 Que les cieux se réjouissent, et que la terre soit dans l’allégresse ! Que l’on dise parmi les nations : L’Éternel règne !
32 Que la mer retentisse avec tout ce qu’elle contient ! Que la campagne s’égaie avec tout ce qu’elle renferme !
33 Que les arbres des forêts poussent des cris de joie Devant l’Éternel ! Car il vient pour juger la terre.
34 Louez l’Éternel, car il est bon, Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours !
35 Dites : Sauve-nous, Dieu de notre salut, Rassemble-nous, et retire-nous du milieu des nations, Afin que nous célébrions ton saint nom Et que nous mettions notre gloire à te louer !
36 Béni soit l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, D’éternité en éternité ! Et que tout le peuple dise : Amen ! Louez l’Éternel !
37 ¶ David laissa là, devant l’arche de l’alliance de l’Éternel, Asaph et ses frères, afin qu’ils fussent continuellement de service devant l’arche, remplissant leur tâche jour par jour.
continuellement … tâche jour par jour. Ce ministère s’inscrivit dans la continuité.
38 Il laissa Obed-Edom et Hosa avec leurs frères, au nombre de soixante-huit, Obed-Edom, fils de Jeduthun, et Hosa, comme portiers.
39 Il établit le sacrificateur Tsadok et les sacrificateurs, ses frères, devant le tabernacle de l’Éternel, sur le haut lieu qui était à Gabaon,
Gabaon. Ville située à près de 10 km au nord-ouest de Jérusalem.
40 pour qu’ils offrissent continuellement à l’Éternel des holocaustes, matin et soir, sur l’autel des holocaustes, et qu’ils accomplissent tout ce qui est écrit dans la loi de l’Éternel, imposée par l’Éternel à Israël.
41 Auprès d’eux étaient Héman et Jeduthun, et les autres qui avaient été choisis et désignés par leurs noms pour louer l’Éternel. Car sa miséricorde dure à toujours.
42 Auprès d’eux étaient Héman et Jeduthun, avec des trompettes et des cymbales pour ceux qui les faisaient retentir, et avec des instruments pour les cantiques en l’honneur de Dieu. Les fils de Jeduthun étaient portiers.
43 Tout le peuple s’en alla chacun dans sa maison, et David s’en retourna pour bénir sa maison.

1 ¶ After the ark of God was brought, she was placed in the midst of the tent which David had set up for her, and they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God.
2 When David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord.
3 And he gave to every man and woman of Israel, to each one a loaf of bread, and a portion of meat, and a cake of grapes.
4 And he gave unto the Levites the charge of ministering before the ark of the LORD, and of calling, of praising, and of praising the LORD God of Israel.

Levites ... service. As soon as the ark was in the tent, the Levites took office.
5 These were: Asaph the chief; Zechariah, the second after him, Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Matthithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, Obed-edom, and Jeiel. They had musical instruments, lutes and harps; And Asaph sounded the cymbals.
6 Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests were continually blowing trumpets before the ark of the covenant of God.
7 ¶ On that day David charged Asaph and his brethren for the first time to praise the LORD.
8 Praise the LORD, call upon his name. Make known among the people his deeds!
9 Sing, sing in his honor! Talk about all its wonders!
10 Glorify with his holy name! May the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
11 Have recourse to the LORD, and to his support, seek continually his face.
12 Remember the wonders he did, the miracles and the judgments of his mouth,
13 The Race of Israel his servant, the children of Jacob, his elect.
14 The LORD is our God; His judgments are exercised throughout the world.
15 Remember always his covenant, His promises for a thousand generations,
16 The covenant which he has dealt with Abraham, and the oath which he made to Isaac;
17 He made her a law unto Jacob, and Israel an everlasting covenant,
18 Saying, I will give thee the land of Canaan, as the inheritance which is due unto thee.
19 They were few then, very few, and strangers in the land,
20 And they went from one nation to another, and from one kingdom unto another people;
21 But he did not allow anyone to oppress them, and he punished kings for their sake:
22 Do not touch my anointed ones, and do no harm to my prophets.
23 Sing unto the LORD, all ye inhabitants of the earth. Announce day by day his salvation;
24 Tell his glory among the nations, and his wonders among all the peoples.
25 For the LORD is great and very worthy of praise; he is fearful above all the gods;
26 For all the gods of the people are idols, and the LORD made the heavens.
27 The majesty and splendor are before him; strength and joy are in his dwelling.
28 Families of the peoples, give to the LORD, and give unto the LORD glory and honor.
29 Give thanks to the LORD for his name. Bring offerings and come in his presence, Prostrate before the Lord with holy ornaments!
30 Tremble before him, all you inhabitants of the earth! The world is firm, it is not staggering.
31 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth rejoice. Let them say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.
32 Let the sea be with all that it contains. Let the countryside be enchanted with all that it contains!
33 Let the trees of the forest shout with joy before the LORD. For he comes to judge the earth.
34 Praise the LORD, for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
35 Say: Save us, O God of our salvation, gather us together, and draw us out of the midst of the nations, that we may celebrate your holy name, and glorify you.
36 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from eternity to eternity. And let all the people say, Amen! Praise the Lord!
37 And David left there before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, Asaph and his brethren, that they should be continually on duty before the ark, fulfilling their task day by day.
Continually ... task day by day. This ministry was a continuation.
38 He left Obed-Edom and Hosah with their brethren, of the number of sixty-eight, Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah as porters.
39 And he made Zadok the priest, and his brethren before the tabernacle of the LORD, in the high place that was in Gibeon,
Gabaon. City located about 10 km northwest of Jerusalem.
40 that they should continually offer burnt offerings to the Lord morning and evening on the altar of burnt offerings, and do all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which the LORD has commanded Israel .
41 Next to them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the others who had been chosen and appointed by their names to praise the LORD. For his mercy endures forever.
42 Next to them were Heman and Jeduthun, with trumpets and cymbals for those who made them resound, and with instruments for the hymns in honor of God. The sons of Jeduthun were porters.
43 And all the people went into his own house, and David returned to bless his house.
