AMOS 07: 1 à 17 *** +
1 ¶ Le Seigneur, l’Éternel, m’envoya cette vision. Voici, il formait des sauterelles, Au moment où le regain commençait à croître ; C’était le regain après la coupe du roi.
7:1-3 Dans la première vision symbolisant l’action divine, un nuage de sauterelles dévorait le moyen de subsistance du peuple, les moissons récoltées lors du dernier regain, une fois que le roi avait pris sa part sur le premier regain (cf. #Joe 1:2-12).

7:1-9:10 Description de cinq visions, avec un interlude historique (#Am 7:10-17). Les deux premières illustraient l’engagement pris par le Seigneur d’épargner un reste, tandis que les trois dernières soulignaient le caractère inexorable du jugement.
2 Et comme elles dévoraient entièrement l’herbe de la terre, Je dis : Seigneur Éternel, pardonne donc ! Comment Jacob subsistera-t-il ? Car il est si faible !
3 L’Éternel se repentit de cela. Cela n’arrivera pas, dit l’Éternel.
L’Éternel se repentit. Voir sa réaction lors de l’intercession d’Abraham en faveur de Sodome en #Ge 18:22-33.
4 Le Seigneur, l’Éternel, m’envoya cette vision. Voici, le Seigneur, l’Éternel, proclamait le châtiment par le feu ; Et le feu dévorait le grand abîme Et dévorait le champ.
7:4-6 À travers l’image du feu, la deuxième vision évoquait une sécheresse dévastatrice, apte à provoquer l’assèchement de la nappe phréatique et des champs (cf. #De 32:22). Amos plaida une nouvelle fois la cause d’Israël (cf. vv. #Am 7:2-3).
5 Je dis : Seigneur Éternel, arrête donc ! Comment Jacob subsistera-t-il ? Car il est si faible !
6 L’Éternel se repentit de cela. Cela non plus n’arrivera pas, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
7 Il m’envoya cette vision. Voici, le Seigneur se tenait sur un mur tiré au cordeau, Et il avait un niveau dans la main.
7:7-9 Dans la troisième des cinq visions, la vraie nature d’Israël était examinée (et trouvée déplorable) avec le fil à plomb de la justice. L’épée du jugement allait faire son œuvre, par l’intermédiaire de l’Assyrie.
8 L’Éternel me dit : Que vois-tu, Amos ? Je répondis : Un niveau. Et le Seigneur dit : Je mettrai le niveau au milieu de mon peuple d’Israël, Je ne lui pardonnerai plus ;
9 Les hauts lieux d’Isaac seront ravagés ; Les sanctuaires d’Israël seront détruits, Et je me lèverai contre la maison de Jéroboam avec l’épée.
10 ¶ Alors Amatsia, prêtre de Béthel, fit dire à Jéroboam, roi d’Israël: Amos conspire contre toi au milieu de la maison d’Israël ; le pays ne peut supporter toutes ses paroles.
7:10-17 Les paroles d’Amos frappaient les chefs d’Israël droit au cœur, ce qui les amena à l’accuser de conspiration contre le roi (cf. #Jér 26:11 ; #Jér 37:11-13 ; #Jér 38:1-6).
11 Car voici ce que dit Amos : Jéroboam mourra par l’épée, et Israël sera emmené captif loin de son pays.

12 Et Amatsia dit à Amos : Homme à visions, va-t’en, fuis dans le pays de Juda ; manges-y ton pain, et là tu prophétiseras.
13 Mais ne continue pas à prophétiser à Béthel, car c’est un sanctuaire du roi, et c’est une maison royale.
14 Amos répondit à Amatsia : Je ne suis ni prophète, ni fils de prophète ; mais je suis berger, et je cultive des sycomores.
15 L’Éternel m’a pris derrière le troupeau, et l’Éternel m’a dit : Va, prophétise à mon peuple d’Israël.
16 Écoute maintenant la parole de l’Éternel, toi qui dis : Ne prophétise pas contre Israël, et ne parle pas contre la maison d’Isaac.
17 À cause de cela, voici ce que dit l’Éternel : Ta femme se prostituera dans la ville, tes fils et tes filles tomberont par l’épée, ton champ sera partagé au cordeau ; et toi, tu mourras sur une terre impure, et Israël sera emmené captif loin de son pays.

1 ¶ The Lord God showed me this vision. Here, he formed grasshoppers When the revival began to grow; It was the latter growth after the king's mowings.
7: 1-3 In the first vision symbolizing the divine action, a swarm of locusts devoured the people's livelihood, the crops harvested during the last revival, once the king had taken his share of the first renewed (cf. . #Joe 1: 2-12).

7: 1-9: 10 Description of five visions, with a historical interlude (#AM 7: 10-17). The first two illustrated the commitment of the Lord to spare a rest, while the last three highlighted the inexorable nature of judgment.
2 And as they completely devoured the grass of the earth, I say, O Lord God, forgive, then! Jacob how he stand? Because it is so small!
3 The LORD repented for this. That will not happen, says the Lord.
The LORD repented. See his reaction when Abraham's intercession for Sodom #Ge 18: 22-33.
4 The Lord God showed me this vision. Behold, the Lord Yahweh called for judgment by fire; And it devoured the great deep and devoured the field.
7: 4-6 Through the image of fire, the second vision evoked a devastating drought, adapted to cause the drying up of the water table and fields (see # of 32:22). Amos again pleaded the cause of Israel (cf. vv #AM. 7: 2-3).
5 I said, Lord Jehovah, cease! Jacob how he stand? Because it is so small!
6 The LORD repented for this. This also shall not be, saith the Lord GOD.
7 And he shewed me. Behold, the Lord stood on a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
7: 7-9 In the third of five visions, the true nature of Israel was examined (and found deplorable) with the plumb line of justice. The sword of judgment would do his work, through Assyria.
8 The LORD said to me: What do you see, Amos? I said, A level. And the Lord said, I will set the level in the midst of my people Israel, I do forgive him more;
9 The high places of Isaac will be devastated; the sanctuaries of Israel will be destroyed, and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10 ¶ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel: Amos conspires against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the country can not bear all his words.
7: 10-17 The words of Amos struck the leaders of Israel to the heart, which led them to accuse him of conspiring against the king (cf. Jer 26:11 #; # Jer 37: 11-13; # Jer 38: 1-6).
11 For thus Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall be led away captive out of his country.

12 And the king said unto Amos seer, go away, flee to the land of Judah; there eat bread, and there prophesy.
13 But do not continue to prophesy at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary, and it is a royal house.
14 Amos replied to Amaziah, I am neither a prophet nor a prophet's son; but I am a shepherd, and I grow sycamores.
15 The LORD took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me: Go, prophesy to my people Israel.
16 Now therefore hear the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and do not speak against the house of Isaac.
17 Because of this, thus says the LORD: Your wife shall be a harlot in the city, and thy son and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall be led away captive out of his country.
