DANIEL 10 : 01 À 9 ***
1 ¶ La troisième année de Cyrus, roi de Perse, une parole fut révélée à Daniel, qu’on nommait Beltschatsar. Cette parole, qui est véritable, annonce une grande calamité. Il fut attentif à cette parole, et il eut l’intelligence de la vision.
2 En ce temps-là, moi, Daniel, je fus trois semaines dans le deuil.
3 Je ne mangeai aucun mets délicat, il n’entra ni viande ni vin dans ma bouche, et je ne m’oignis point jusqu’à ce que les trois semaines fussent accomplies.
4 Le vingt-quatrième jour du premier mois, j’étais au bord du grand fleuve qui est Hiddékel.
5 Je levai les yeux, je regardai, et voici, il y avait un homme vêtu de lin, et ayant sur les reins une ceinture d’or d’Uphaz.
6 Son corps était comme de chrysolithe, son visage brillait comme l’éclair, ses yeux étaient comme des flammes de feu, ses bras et ses pieds ressemblaient à de l’airain poli, et le son de sa voix était comme le bruit d’une multitude.
7 Moi, Daniel, je vis seul la vision, et les hommes qui étaient avec moi ne la virent point, mais ils furent saisis d’une grande frayeur, et ils prirent la fuite pour se cacher.
8 Je restai seul, et je vis cette grande vision ; les forces me manquèrent, mon visage changea de couleur et fut décomposé, et je perdis toute vigueur.
9 J’entendis le son de ses paroles ; et comme j’entendais le son de ses paroles, je tombai frappé d’étourdissement, la face contre terre.

La troisième année. C’est-à-dire vers 536 av. J.-C. Il s’était écoulé deux ans depuis le premier décret autorisant les Juifs à revenir à Jérusalem (cf. #Esd 1:1-2:1 ; #Esd 2:64-3:1).

Son corps était comme de chrysolithe. Le messager que Daniel aperçoit en vision (vv. #Da 10:1, #Da 10:7) est distinct de l’ange Micaël, puisqu’il est aidé par ce dernier (v. #Da 10:13). La gloire qui le caractérise ici a conduit certains à y voir Christ, dans une apparition précédant son incarnation (comme en #Jos 5:13-15 ; #Jos 6:2 ; #Jug 6:11-23). Sa description correspond presque exactement à celle de Christ en #Ap 1:13-14, et la réaction de Daniel est similaire à celle de Jean (#Ap 1:17).

¶ 1 In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel , whose name was Belteshazzar . This speech, which was true, a great calamity . He was attentive to the word, and had understanding of the vision.
2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks .
3 I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, and I will anoint myself at all until the three weeks were fulfilled .
4 The twenty-fourth day of the first month I was on the edge of the great river is Tigris .
5 I looked , I looked, and behold, there was a man clothed in linen , whose loins and a gold belt Uphaz .
6 His body also was like the beryl, and his face shone like lightning, his eyes were as a flame of fire , his arms and feet like burnished bronze , and his voice was like the sound of a multitude.
7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision , and the men who were with me saw not the vision , but they were filled with awe , and they fled to hide themselves.
8 I was left alone , and saw this great vision ; strength failed me , my face changed color and was broken , and I retained no strength .
9 I heard the sound of his words ; and when I heard the sound of his words , I fell in a deep sleep , his face against the ground.

His body was like beryl . The messenger Daniel sees in vision (vv. # Da 10:1 Da 10:7 # ) is separate from the angel Michael, since it is aided by the latter (see # Da 10:13) . The glory that characterizes here has led some to see Christ in an appearance before his incarnation (as in # Jos 5:13-15 ; # Jos 6:2 ; # Jug 6:11-23 ) . His description is almost exactly that of Christ in Revelation 1:13-14 # , and Daniel reaction is similar to that of John ( # Rev 1:17).
