20 Le bélier que tu as vu, et qui avait des cornes, ce sont les rois des Mèdes et des Perses.
21 Le bouc, c’est le roi de Javan, La grande corne entre ses yeux, c’est le premier roi.
22 Les quatre cornes qui se sont élevées pour remplacer cette corne brisée, ce sont quatre royaumes qui s’élèveront de cette nation, mais qui n’auront pas autant de force.
23 A la fin de leur domination, lorsque les pécheurs seront consumés, il s’élèvera un roi impudent et artificieux.
24 Sa puissance s’accroîtra, mais non par sa propre force ; il fera d’incroyables ravages, il réussira dans ses entreprises, il détruira les puissants et le peuple des saints.
25 A cause de sa prospérité et du succès de ses ruses, il aura de l’arrogance dans le cœur, il fera périr beaucoup d’hommes qui vivaient paisiblement, et il s’élèvera contre le chef des chefs ; mais il sera brisé, sans l’effort d’aucune main.
26 Et la vision des soirs et des matins, dont il s’agit, est véritable. Pour toi, tiens secrète cette vision, car elle se rapporte à des temps éloignés.
27 Moi, Daniel, je fus plusieurs jours languissant et malade ; puis je me levai, et je m’occupai des affaires du roi. J’étais étonné de la vision, et personne n’en eut connaissance.

Le bouc … grande corne. C’est la troisième puissance mondiale païenne: le royaume grec, et en particulier Alexandre le Grand, qui devint le « premier roi », suite à sa conquête de l’Empire médo-perse. Cf. #Da 11:3.

corne brisée … quatre royaumes. Alexandre mourut à l’âge de 33 ans, en 323 av. J.-C., sans laisser d’héritier. C’est pourquoi quatre hommes, après 22 ans de luttes, se mirent d’accord pour se répartir son Empire:
1° Cassandre prit la Macédoine;
2° Lysimaque, la Thrace et l’Asie Mineure;
3° Séleucus, la Syrie et Babylone;
4° Ptolémée, l’Egypte et l’Arabie.
L’expression « aux quatre vents » (v. #Da 8:8) renvoyait à eux. La précision « qui n’auront pas autant de force » souligne qu’ils ne possédaient pas autant de force qu’Alexandre et n’étaient pas directement parents avec lui.

il s’élèvera un roi. En ce qui concerne l’accomplissement proche de cette prophétie, on considère que le persécuteur en question est Antiochus, comme aux vv. #Da 8:9-14. Son règne, qui dura jusqu’en 164 av. J.-C., se situe « à la fin de leur domination », c’est-à-dire dans les dernières années de pouvoir du « bouc » sur le territoire syrien. En effet, quelques années plus tard seulement, en 146 av. J.-C., Rome conquit la Grèce et devint la nouvelle puissance mondiale. Antiochus mourut « brisé, sans l’effort d’aucune main », puisqu’il sombra dans la folie et fut victime d’une maladie des intestins. Si l’on considère l’accomplissement à long terme de cette prophétie, Antiochus, tel qu’il est décrit aux vv. #Da 8:23-25, préfigure la dernière tribulation et l’Antéchrist. Ce dernier est aussi la « petite corne » de #Da 7:7 ; #Da 8:9 et le « roi » volontaire de #Da 11:36-45.

20 The ram which you saw, and which had two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.
21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia : and the great horn between his eyes is the first king.
22 The four horns that were raised to replace the broken, the four kingdoms shall arise out of that nation, but not in his power .
23 At the end of their kingdom, when the transgressors are , there will arise a brazen and cunning king.
24 His power shall be mighty , but not by his own power ; he shall destroy wonderfully , and shall prosper , and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 Because of its prosperity and success of his tricks , he will magnify himself in his heart, he will destroy many men who lived quietly , and stand up against the Prince of princes ; but he shall be broken without hand no effort .
26 And the vision of the evenings and mornings which has been told is true . For you, like secret vision as it relates to remote times .
27 I , Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days ; then I got up , and I busied myself the king's business . I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it .

The goat ... great horn . This is the third pagan world power : the Greek kingdom, and especially Alexander the Great , who became the " first king " after his conquest of the Medo-Persian Empire. See # Da 11:3 .

broken horn ... four kingdoms . Alexander died at the age of 33 , in 323 BC. BC , leaving no heir. That is why four men after 22 years of struggle, came to an agreement to divide his empire :
1 Cassandra took Macedonia ;
2 Lysimachus , Thrace and Asia Minor;
3 Seleucus , Syria and Babylon ;
4 Ptolemy , Egypt and Arabia.
The phrase " the four winds " (v. # Da 8:8 ) referred to them. Accuracy " who have not much strength ," said they did not have much strength and Alexander were not directly relatives with him.

there shall arise a king. Regarding the near completion of this prophecy, we consider that the persecutor in question is Antiochus , as in vv. # Da 8:9-14 . His reign , which lasted until 164 BC. AD is " at the end of their rule ," that is to say, in the last years of power " goat " on Syrian territory . Indeed, only a few years later , in 146 BC . BC, Rome conquered Greece and became the new world power. Antiochus died "broken without hand no effort " since descended into madness and suffered a bowel disease . If we consider the long-term fulfillment of this prophecy, Antiochus , as described in vv . # Da 8:23-25 prefigures the final tribulation and the Antichrist . The latter is also the "little horn" of # Da 7:7 ; # Da 8:9 and voluntary "king" of # Da 11:36-45 .
