Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, Eph 4:30 } {#
All that the believer has to come from Christ , but it is only through the channel of the Spirit of grace. Moreover, as all the blessings that flood you through the Holy Spirit , no good can come out of you without a holy thought, devout worship , without the sanctifying operation of the same Spirit. Even if the good seed is sown in you , it can remain dormant unless the Spirit prompts you to will and to do of His own good pleasure. Do you want to talk to Jesus, how do you do it unless the Holy Spirit touches your tongue? Do you want to pray? Alas ! how boring job , unless the Spirit makes intercession for you ! Do you want to subdue sin? Want to be a saint? Would you imitate your Master ? Do you want to reach the highest heights of spirituality ? How would you like the angels of God , full of zeal and enthusiasm for the cause of the Master? You can not do it without the Spirit : "Without me you can do nothing ." O branch of the vine , you can not bear fruit if you do not have a sap ! O child of God , you have no life in you to share the life that God gives you through His Spirit ! So do not grieve , do not provoke his anger by our sin. Do not grieve in any of its shares in our soul take care of each of his suggestions, and be ready to obey each of its incentives. If the Holy Spirit is really so powerful, make no attempt without him, do not start any project, undertake nothing, conclude any transaction, without imploring his blessing. Bring him the honor due to him , as we feel our utter weakness without him, and then depending on him only , and express our prayer: " Open my heart and my whole existence to your coming and support me by your spirit of freedom, when I have received the Spirit intimately . "
