ÉSAÏE 62 : 1 À 12 ***
1 ¶ Pour l’amour de Sion je ne me tairai point, Pour l’amour de Jérusalem je ne prendrai point de repos, Jusqu’à ce que son salut paraisse, comme l’aurore, Et sa délivrance, comme un flambeau qui s’allume.
2 Alors les nations verront ton salut, Et tous les rois ta gloire ; Et l’on t’appellera d’un nom nouveau, Que la bouche de l’Éternel déterminera.
3 Tu seras une couronne éclatante dans la main de l’Éternel, Un turban royal dans la main de ton Dieu.
4 On ne te nommera plus délaissée, On ne nommera plus ta terre désolation ; Mais on t’appellera mon plaisir en elle, Et l’on appellera ta terre épouse ; Car l’Éternel met son plaisir en toi, Et ta terre aura un époux.
5 Comme un jeune homme s’unit à une vierge, Ainsi tes fils s’uniront à toi ; Et comme la fiancée fait la joie de son fiancé, Ainsi tu feras la joie de ton Dieu.
6 ¶ Sur tes murs, Jérusalem, j’ai placé des gardes ; Ils ne se tairont ni jour ni nuit. Vous qui la rappelez au souvenir de l’Éternel, Point de repos pour vous !
7 Et ne lui laissez aucun relâche, Jusqu’à ce qu’il rétablisse Jérusalem Et la rende glorieuse sur la terre.
8 L’Éternel l’a juré par sa droite et par son bras puissant : Je ne donnerai plus ton blé pour nourriture à tes ennemis, Et les fils de l’étranger ne boiront plus ton vin, Produit de tes labeurs ;
9 Mais ceux qui auront amassé le blé le mangeront Et loueront l’Éternel, Et ceux qui auront récolté le vin le boiront, Dans les parvis de mon sanctuaire.
10 ¶ Franchissez, franchissez les portes ! Préparez un chemin pour le peuple ! Frayez, frayez la route, ôtez les pierres ! Élevez une bannière vers les peuples !
11 Voici ce que l’Éternel proclame aux extrémités de la terre : Dites à la fille de Sion : Voici, ton sauveur arrive ; Voici, le salaire est avec lui, Et les rétributions le précèdent.
12 On les appellera peuple saint, rachetés de l’Éternel ; Et toi, on t’appellera recherchée, ville non délaissée.

ne me tairai point … point de repos. Le Seigneur exprimait sa détermination à faire de Jérusalem un phare pour le monde (#Esa 58:8 ; #Esa 60:1-3).

mon plaisir en elle … épouse. Titres reflétant la pleine restauration de la relation avec le Seigneur.
62:5
s’uniront. Au sens où ils occuperont la ville et en prendront possession.
62:6-7
ne se tairont … point de repos … aucun relâche. Les prophètes d’Israël lançaient constamment des avertissements au sujet des ennemis qui rôdaient autour d’eux et priaient pour que le nom de Jérusalem soit celui de « gloire » (#Esa 60:18 ; #Esa 61:11). Il y aura encore plus de prophètes dans le royaume pour proclamer l’honneur du Seigneur.
62:8-9
L’Éternel l’a juré. La fin de la domination étrangère sur Jérusalem est aussi certaine que le serment prêté par Dieu.
62:9
parvis de mon sanctuaire. Allusion au temple du millénium (cf. #Ez 40:1-46:2).
62:10
Préparez. Cet impératif, de même que les commandements qui y sont joints, préparait le peuple à l’exaltation de Sion et à la manifestation de son salut (#Esa 11:12 ; #Esa 40:3 ; #Esa 57:14).

Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici. Matthieu fit peut-être aussi allusion à ce v. lorsqu’il cita #Za 9:9 à propos de l’entrée triomphale à Jérusalem (voir #Mt 21: 5).

ISAIAH 62 : 1 TO 12 ***
1 ¶ For Zion's sake I will hold my peace, for Jerusalem's sake I will keep quiet, until her salvation forth as brightness, and her salvation like a torch that s lighter.
2 The nations will see your salvation, and all kings your glory; And thou shalt be called by a new name, That the Lord's mouth shall determine.
3 You will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
4 It is most neglected appoint you, no longer will appoint thy land desolate; But thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and your land is married; For the Lord delights in you, and thy land shall be married.
5 As a young man marries a virgin, so your son marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so you will make the joy of thy God.
¶ 6 On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have set watchmen They never hold their peace day nor night. You who call on the memory of the Lord no rest for you!
7 And give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
8 The LORD has sworn by his right hand and by his mighty arm: I no longer give your grain as food for your enemies, and the son of the stranger shall not drink your wine for which your labors;
9 But they that have gathered it shall eat it and praise the Lord, and those who have harvested shall drink it in the courts of my sanctuary.
10 ¶ through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people! Build up, build the road, remove the stones! Raise a banner for the peoples!
11 This is what the LORD proclaims to the ends of the earth: Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; Behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
12 They will be called holy people, The redeemed of the LORD; And you, be called Sought, city not forsaken.

not hold my peace ... no rest. The Lord expressed his determination to make Jerusalem a beacon for the world (#Esa 58: 8; #Esa 60: 1-3).
62: 4
Hephzibah ... wife. Securities reflecting the full restoration of the relationship with the Lord.
62: 5
will unite. In that they occupy the city and take possession.
62: 6-7
never be silent ... no rest ... no rest. The prophets of Israel constantly throwing warnings about enemies lurking around them and prayed that the name of Jerusalem is that of "glory" (60:18 #Esa; #Esa 61:11). There will be no more prophets in the kingdom to proclaim the honor of the Lord.
62: 8-9
The LORD has sworn. The end of foreign rule over Jerusalem is as certain as the oath of God.
62: 9
courts of my sanctuary. Referring to the temple of the millennium (cf. #Ez 40: 1-46: 2).
62:10
Prepare. This imperative, as the commandments attached thereto, preparing the people to the exaltation of Zion and in the event of his salvation (#Esa 11:12; #Esa 40: 3; 57:14 #Esa).
62:11
Tell the daughter of Zion, Behold. Matthew perhaps also made reference to this verse. when quoted #Za 9: 9 about the triumphal entry into Jerusalem (see #Mt 21: 5).
salary ... the rewards. See #Esa 40: 9-10.
62:12
city not forsaken. See v. 4; cf. complaint Zion #Esa 49:14.
