6 C’est pourquoi dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Revenez, et détournez-vous de vos idoles, détournez les regards de toutes vos abominations !
7 Car tout homme de la maison d’Israël, ou des étrangers séjournant en Israël, qui s’est éloigné de moi, qui porte ses idoles dans son cœur, et qui attache les regards sur ce qui l’a fait tomber dans son iniquité, — s’il vient s’adresser au prophète pour me consulter par lui, — moi, l’Eternel, je lui répondrai par moi.
8 Je tournerai ma face contre cet homme, je ferai de lui un signe et un sujet de sarcasme, et je l’exterminerai du milieu de mon peuple. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel.
9 Si le prophète se laisse séduire, s’il prononce une parole, c’est moi, l’Eternel, qui aurai séduit ce prophète ; j’étendrai ma main contre lui, et je le détruirai du milieu de mon peuple d’Israël.
10 Ils porteront ainsi la peine de leur iniquité ; la peine du prophète sera comme la peine de celui qui consulte,
11 afin que la maison d’Israël ne s’égare plus loin de moi, et qu’elle ne se souille plus par toutes ses transgressions. Alors ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu, dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.

détournez-vous. Le Seigneur répondit à leur duplicité d’une seule manière: par un appel à la repentance. Ces hommes s’étaient détournés de lui pour se tourner vers les idoles (v. #Ez 14:6b), et il ne pouvait que se détourner d’eux (v. #Ez 14:8a). Les coupables, aussi bien ceux qui étaient à Jérusalem que ceux qui, en exil, toléraient les mêmes abominations, devaient se repentir et se détourner des idoles pour revenir vers Dieu.
14:8 Ce châtiment faisait écho aux avertissements de #Lé 20:3, #Lé 20:5-6 et #De 28:27.

séduit. Ce n’est que dans un sens relatif que l’Eternel trompe (séduit) un faux prophète: lorsque quelqu’un rejette sa parole en toute conscience, Dieu l’entoure d’un nuage de ténèbres ou lui permet de continuer à prophétiser en lui cachant la vérité, de sorte que le fautif se retrouve trompé par l’endurcissement de sa propre obstination. C’est en vertu du même principe que Dieu abandonne Israël à de mauvais préceptes (#Ez 20:25-26), pour cause de mépris de sa parole (#Ez 20:24, #Ez 20:26). Chaque fois que les hommes refusent la vérité, Dieu permet qu’ils s’enfoncent dans leurs propres inclinations et les livre à l’erreur (#Ez 20:39). C’est une des manifestations de sa colère, la colère d’abandon décrite en #Ro 1:18-32 (cf. #1R 22:20-23 ; #2Th 2:11).

6 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel , Thus saith the Lord GOD : Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations !
7 For every one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, who is far from me , bringing his idols in his heart , and which attaches eyes on what made him fall in his iniquity; - if it comes to a prophet to inquire of me by him, - I the LORD will answer him by myself .
8 And I will set my face against that man, I will make him a sign and a proverb , and I will cut him off from among my people. And you know that I am the LORD.
9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing , it is I, the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from the midst of my people Israel .
10 Thus they shall bear their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him who consults
11 That the house of Israel no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions. Then they shall be my people , and I will be their God, saith the Lord GOD .

turn away . The Lord answered their duplicity one way : with a call to repentance. These men had turned away from him and turned to idols (v. # Ez 14:6 b) , and he could only get away from them (v. # Ez 14:8 a). Offenders, both those in Jerusalem who , in exile, tolerate their abominations , should repent and turn from idols to return to God.
14:8 This punishment echoed the warnings # Lev 20:3 , Lev 20:5-6 and # # De 28:27 .

seduced . It is only in a relative sense the LORD wrong ( won ) a false prophet when someone rejects his word in all conscience, God surrounded by a cloud of darkness and allows him to continue to prophesy hiding the truth , so that the offender is found deceived by the hardness of his own obstinacy. This is the same principle that God abandons Israel to bad precepts ( Ez 20:25-26 # ) due to contempt of his word (# Ez 8:24 p.m. , 8:26 p.m. # Ez ) . Whenever men reject the truth , God allows them to dig into their own inclinations and delivers them to the error ( # Ez 20:39 ) . This is a manifestation of his anger, wrath of abandonment described in # Ro 1:18-32 (cf. # 1R 22:20-23 ; # 2Th 2:11 ) .
