ÉZÉKIEL 20 : 43 à 49 ***
43 Là vous vous souviendrez de votre conduite et de toutes vos actions par lesquelles vous vous êtes souillés ; vous vous prendrez vous-mêmes en dégoût, à cause de toutes les infamies que vous avez commises.
44 Et vous saurez que je suis l’Eternel, quand j’agirai avec vous par égard pour mon nom, et nullement d’après votre conduite mauvaise et vos actions corrompues, ô maison d’Israël ! dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
45 ¶ (21-1) La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
46 (21-2) Fils de l’homme, tourne ta face vers le midi, Et parle contre le midi ! Prophétise contre la forêt des champs du midi !
47 (21-3) Tu diras à la forêt du midi: Ecoute la parole de l’Eternel ! Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Je vais allumer un feu au dedans de toi, Et il dévorera tout arbre vert et tout arbre sec ; La flamme ardente ne s’éteindra point, Et tout visage en sera brûlé, Du midi au septentrion.
48 (21-4) Et toute chair verra Que moi, l’Eternel, je l’ai allumé. Il ne s’éteindra point.
49 (21-5) Je dis : Ah ! Seigneur Eternel ! Ils disent de moi : N’est-ce pas un faiseur de paraboles ?

vous saurez. Dieu a conçu ce grand plan de restauration pour qu’un peuple renouvelé et repentant sache qu’il est l’Eternel (thème récurrent, voir le v. 38). Les membres des autres nations sauront alors qui il est et lui rendront, eux aussi, le culte qui lui revient (v. #Ez 20: 41 ; #Ez 36:23, #Ez 36:36).
21: 2-4
parle contre le midi. Le « midi » désigne la région d’Israël, et Juda en particulier. L’invasion venait habituellement du nord. Même si Babylone se trouvait à l’est (#Ez 19: 12), son armée se dirigerait vers l’ouest et la Méditerranée avant de prendre la direction du sud pour envahir Juda par le nord. L’envahisseur (Nebucadnetsar en 586 av. J.-C.) allait dévaster le pays comme un feu (cf. #Ez 15: 1-8 ; #Ez 19: 12 ; #Za 11:1-3), dévorant tous les arbres sans distinction, qu’ils soient secs ou verts (cf. #Ez 21: 8-9). Il y avait beaucoup plus de forêts dans la région à l’époque biblique.
Cette réaction démontre le refus des anciens (#Ez 20: 1) de comprendre le message, pourtant clair, d’Ezéchiel. Lorsque le cœur n’y est pas disposé, il n’y a pas de compréhension possible.

43 And there shall ye remember your ways and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled , and ye shall loathe yourselves , because of all the evils that ye have committed.
44 And you shall know that I am the LORD , when I have wrought with you for my name , and not according to your evil ways and your corrupt doings , O house of Israel ! says the Lord GOD .
¶ 45 (21-1 ) The word of the LORD came unto me , saying :
46 ( 21-2 ) Son of man , set thy face toward the south , and speaks against the noon! Prophesy against the forest of the south field;
47 ( 21-3 ) say to the forest of the south , Hear the word of the LORD ! Thus says the Lord GOD : I will kindle a fire in thee , and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched , and all faces will be burnt , from south to north .
48 ( 21-4 ) And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled . It shall not be quenched .
49 ( 21-5 ) I say : Ah! Lord God ! They tell me: Is not speak parables ?

you know . God designed this great restoration plan for a renewed and repentant people know that he is the Lord ( recurring theme , see ver. 38). Members of other nations will know then who he is and make him , too, the rightful worship (v. # Ez 20: 41; Ez 36:23 # , # Ez 36:36 ) .
21 : 2-4
speaks against the south . The " south" means the area of Israel and Judah in particular. Invasion usually came from the north . Although Babylon was to the east ( # Ez 19: 12) , his army would head west and take the Mediterranean before heading south to invade Judah from the north. The Invader ( . Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC) would devastate the country like a fire (cf. Ez # 15 : 1-8 ; # Ez 19: 12; # Za 11:1-3 ) , devouring all trees without distinction , whether dry or green (cf. Ez # 21: 8-9). There were many more forests in the region in biblical times .
This reaction demonstrates the refusal of the former (# Ez 20: 1) to understand the message , however, clear from Ezekiel. When the heart is not prepared , there is no possibility of understanding.
