ÉZÉKIEL 21 : 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 ***
1 ¶ (21-6) Et la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
2 (21-7) Fils de l’homme, tourne ta face vers Jérusalem, Et parle contre les lieux saints ! Prophétise contre le pays d’Israël !
3 (21-8) Tu diras au pays d’Israël : Ainsi parle l’Eternel : Voici, j’en veux à toi, Je tirerai mon épée de son fourreau, Et j’exterminerai du milieu de toi le juste et le méchant.
4 (21-9) Parce que je veux exterminer du milieu de toi le juste et le méchant, Mon épée sortira de son fourreau, Pour frapper toute chair, Du midi au septentrion.
5 (21-10) Et toute chair saura Que moi, l’Eternel, j’ai tiré mon épée de son fourreau. Elle n’y rentrera plus.
6 (21-11) Et toi, fils de l’homme, gémis ! Les reins brisés et l’amertume dans l’âme, Gémis sous leurs regards !
7 (21-12) Et s’ils te disent : Pourquoi gémis-tu ? Tu répondras : Parce qu’il arrive une nouvelle … Tous les cœurs s’alarmeront, Toutes les mains deviendront faibles, Tous les esprits seront abattus, Tous les genoux se fondront en eau … Voici, elle arrive, elle est là ! Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.

21:6-12
la parole … me fut adressée. Ces vv. décrivent l’épée destinée à s’abattre sur Jérusalem (vv. #Ez 21:6-22). Dieu décrit son châtiment comme exécuté par un guerrier dégainant son épée aiguisée afin de donner la mort. C’était Dieu le guerrier (vv. #Ez 21:8-9), mais son épée était Babylone (v. #Ez 21: 24). L’arrière-plan historique de cette prophétie, ce sont les campagnes lancées par Nebucadnetsar en 588 av. J.-C. pour réprimer les révoltes de Juda, ainsi que de Tyr et d’Ammon.

le juste et le méchant. Les Babyloniens ne feraient aucune distinction lors de leur invasion, et tous, justes et méchants, périraient sur leur passage. C’est ce qui se produisit dans tout le pays d’Israël, du nord au sud, en rapport avec le jugement par le feu des vv. 1-5. Les arbres verts ou secs (v. #Ez 21: 3) illustrent probablement les justes et les méchants (cf. #Lu 23: 31).

¶ 1 ( 21-6 ) And the word of the LORD came unto me , saying :
2 ( 21-7 ) Son of man , set thy face toward Jerusalem , and speaks against the holy places ! Prophesy against the land of Israel !
3 ( 21-8 ) say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I am against thee, I will draw my sword from its sheath , and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked .
4 ( 21-9 ) Because I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked , my sword out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north .
5 ( 21-10 ) And all flesh shall know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of its sheath . It shall not return any more .
6 ( 21-11 ) And thou, son of man, groan ! Back broken and bitter in soul , sigh before their eyes !
7 ( 21-12 ) And if they say to you, Why do you groan ? You shall say, Because it comes a new ... All hearts will alarm , all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint , and all knees shall be weak as water ... Here it comes, there it is! Says the Lord GOD .

21:6-12
speech ... came to me . These vv. describe the sword destined to befall Jerusalem (vv. # Ez 21:6-22 ) . God described his punishment as performed by a warrior drew his sharp sword to commit suicide. It was God Warrior (vv. # Ez 21:8-9 ), but his sword was Babylon (v. # Ez 21: 24). The historical background of this prophecy, are the campaigns launched by Nebuchadnezzar in 588 BC. AD to suppress the revolts of Judah and Tyre and Ammon .
21:8-9
the righteous and the wicked . The Babylonians would make no distinction in their invasion, and all righteous and the wicked perish in their path. This is what happened in all the land of Israel, from north to south , in connection with the trial by fire of vv. 1-5. Green or dry trees (see # Ez 21: 3) probably illustrate the righteous and the wicked (cf. Lu # 23: 31).
