ÉZÉKIEL 29 : 13 À 21 ***
13 Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Au bout de quarante ans je rassemblerai les Egyptiens Du milieu des peuples où ils auront été dispersés.
14 Je ramènerai les captifs de l’Egypte, Je les ramènerai dans le pays de Pathros, Dans le pays de leur origine, Et là ils formeront un faible royaume.
15 Ce sera le moindre des royaumes, Et il ne s’élèvera plus au-dessus des nations, Je les diminuerai, afin qu’ils ne dominent pas sur les nations.
16 Ce royaume ne sera plus pour la maison d’Israël un sujet de confiance ; Il lui rappellera son iniquité, quand elle se tournait vers eux. Et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
17 ¶ La vingt-septième année, le premier jour du premier mois, la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
18 Fils de l’homme, Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, A fait faire à son armée un service pénible contre Tyr ; Toutes les têtes sont chauves, toutes les épaules sont écorchées ; Et il n’a retiré de Tyr aucun salaire, ni lui, ni son armée, Pour le service qu’il a fait contre elle.
19 C’est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Voici, je donne à Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, Le pays d’Egypte ; Il en emportera les richesses, Il en prendra les dépouilles, Il en pillera le butin ; Ce sera un salaire pour son armée.
20 Pour prix du service qu’il a fait contre Tyr, Je lui donne le pays d’Egypte ; Car ils ont travaillé pour moi, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
21 En ce jour-là, je donnerai de la force à la maison d’Israël, Et je t’ouvrirai la bouche au milieu d’eux ; Et ils sauront que je suis l’Eternel.

je rassemblerai les Egyptiens. L’Egypte retrouverait une situation normale, comme c’est toujours le cas de nos jours, mais elle ne regagnerait jamais la prééminence internationale dont elle avait pu jouir.

La vingt-septième année. Cela correspond à l’an 571/570 av. J.-C., si l’on compte à partir de la déportation de Jojakin (597 av. J.-C.), environ dix-sept ans après la prophétie des vv. 1-16.
29:18
un service pénible contre Tyr. Nebucadnetsar dut assiéger la ville de Tyr pendant treize ans, de 585 à 573 av. J.-C., avant de la vaincre (cf. #Ez 26:1-28:19). Ses habitants se retirèrent alors dans un bastion édifié sur une île et parvinrent à y survivre, frustrant ainsi Babylone de la pleine satisfaction qu’elle attendait, en termes de butin (« salaire »), d’un si long siège.
29:19
je donne … le pays d’Egypte. Pour compenser le butin insuffisant retiré par Babylone de sa victoire sur Tyr, Dieu lui permit de conquérir l’Egypte en 568/567 av. J.-C. L’armée babylonienne servit à l’Eternel d’instrument pour abattre l’orgueil de l’Egypte.
29:21
je donnerai de la force. Littéralement « je ferai pousser la corne ». Cf. #Ez 23:25-26. Dieu rendrait sa puissance à Israël et restaurerait son autorité, de même que la puissance d’un animal est censée résider dans ses cornes (cf. #1S 2:1). D’autres nations pouvaient l’asservir, mais il recevrait une entière bénédiction à l’époque messianique.
je t’ouvrirai la bouche. Allusion probable au temps où l’on comprendrait les écrits d’Ezéchiel en constatant leur accomplissement. En effet, il avait déjà rompu son silence en 586/585 av. J.-C., au moment de la chute de Jérusalem (cf. #Ez 33:21-22).

13 Thus saith the Lord God : At the end of forty years will I gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered .
14 I will bring again the captivity of Egypt, I will bring them into the land of Pathros in the land of their origin , and they shall be there a base kingdom .
15 It shall be the lesser kingdoms, And it exalt itself above the nations: for I will diminish , so they do not rule over the nations .
16 And it will not be for the house of Israel, about confidence, He will remind his iniquity, when she turned towards them. And they shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah .
¶ 17 The twenty- seventh year, the first day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me , saying :
18 Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyrus: every head was made bald, and every shoulder was worn ; And he has no wages from Tyre , neither he nor his army , for the service that he had served against it .
19 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD : Behold, I give to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the land of Egypt: he shall carry the multitude, and take the spoils He prey; This will be the wages for his army.
20 As the price of the service he has done against Tyre, I give him the land of Egypt, because they worked for me , saith the Lord GOD .
21 In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel, and I will open the mouth in the midst of them : and they shall know that I am the LORD.

I give ... the land of Egypt . To compensate for the lack of booty taken by Babylon 's victory over Tyre, God allowed him to conquer Egypt in 568/567 BC. BC The Babylonian army served the Lord as a tool to break down the pride of Egypt.
