ÉZÉKIEL 33 : 21 À 29 ***
21 ¶ La douzième année, le cinquième jour du dixième mois de notre captivité, un homme qui s’était échappé de Jérusalem vint à moi et dit : La ville a été prise !
22 La main de l’Eternel avait été sur moi le soir avant l’arrivée du fugitif, et l’Eternel m’avait ouvert la bouche lorsqu’il vint auprès de moi le matin. Ma bouche était ouverte, et je n’étais plus muet.
23 Alors la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
24 Fils de l’homme, ceux qui habitent ces ruines dans le pays d’Israël disent : Abraham était seul, et il a hérité le pays ; à nous qui sommes nombreux, le pays est donné en possession.
25 C’est pourquoi dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Vous mangez vos aliments avec du sang, vous levez les yeux vers vos idoles, vous répandez le sang. Et vous posséderiez le pays !
26 Vous vous appuyez sur votre épée, vous commettez des abominations, chacun de vous déshonore la femme de son prochain. Et vous posséderiez le pays !
27 Dis-leur : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Je suis vivant ! Ceux qui sont parmi les ruines tomberont par l’épée ; ceux qui sont dans les champs, j’en ferai la pâture des bêtes ; et ceux qui sont dans les forts et dans les cavernes mourront par la peste.
28 Je réduirai le pays en solitude et en désert ; l’orgueil de sa force prendra fin, les montagnes d’Israël seront désolées, personne n’y passera.
29 Et ils sauront que je suis l’Eternel, quand je réduirai le pays en solitude et en désert, à cause de toutes les abominations qu’ils ont commises.

La ville a été prise! Un homme (ou plusieurs, l’hébreux pouvant correspondre à un collectif) qui s’était échappé de Jérusalem prit contact avec Ezéchiel et lui fit son rapport le 8 janvier 585 av. J.-C., presque 6 mois après la chute de Jérusalem, survenue le 18 juillet 586 (#Jér 39:1-2 ; #Jér 52:5-7). D’après #Ez 24:1-2, #Ez 33:21, il s’était écoulé 36 mois entre le début du siège (15 janvier 588) et ce rapport.

m’avait ouvert la bouche. Dieu exerçait son contrôle sur la bouche d’Ezéchiel (voir la note sur 3:26-27 {==> "Ez 3:26"}).
33:23-29 Les prophéties de 33:23-39:29 ne sont pas datées, mais ce premier message consécutif à la chute de Jérusalem reprochait à Israël d’avoir mis sa confiance dans la chair. Dirigé contre les Judéens restés dans le pays promis, il avertissait les survivants que d’autres châtiments s’abattraient sur eux s’ils n’obéissaient pas à Dieu. Par un étrange raisonnement, ils pensaient que, Dieu ayant donné cette terre à Abraham quand il était seul, elle serait encore plus sûrement leur propriété du fait de leur nombre. Leurs prétentions étaient fondées sur la quantité plutôt que la qualité (v. #Ez 33:24), mais le châtiment ne manquerait pas de tomber s’ils se détournaient encore de Dieu (vv. #Ez 33:25-29).

¶ 21 In the twelfth year , on the fifth day of the tenth month of our captivity , a man who had escaped from Jerusalem came to me and said the city was taken !
22 The hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening before the arrival of the fugitive, and the Lord had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning . My mouth was open, and I was no more dumb .
23 Then the word of the LORD came unto me , saying :
24 Son of man , they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying , Abraham was one , and he inherited the land, we who are many , the country is given in possession .
25 Wherefore say unto them , Thus saith the Lord GOD : You eat with the blood , and lift up your eyes toward your idols , and shed blood. And you possess the land?
26 Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination , and ye defile every woman of her neighbor. And you possess the land?
27 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD : I am alive! Those are among the ruins shall fall by the sword , those who are in the fields , I will pasture animals and those who are in the strongholds and in the caves shall die of the plague.
28 I will lay the land most desolate , and the pomp of her strength shall cease , the mountains of Israel shall be desolate , that none shall pass .
29 And they shall know that I am the LORD , when I will lay the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.

The city was taken ! A man (or several , Hebrew may correspond to a collective) who had escaped from Jerusalem came into contact with Ezekiel and made his report on January 8 585 BC. BC, nearly six months after the fall of Jerusalem , which occurred July 18 586 (# Jer 39:1-2 , Jeremiah 52:5-7 # ) . According # Ez 24:1-2 , Ezekiel 33:21 # it 36 months had elapsed between the beginning of the siege ( 15 January 588 ), and this report.

had opened my mouth. God exercised his control over the mouth of Ezekiel (see note on 3:26-27 { == > " Ez 3:26 "}) .
33:23-39:29 33:23-29 prophecies are not dated , but the first consecutive message to the fall of Jerusalem accused Israel of having put his confidence in the flesh. Directed against Judah remained in the promised land , he warned survivors than other punishments would fall upon them if they did not obey God. For a strange reason, they thought , God gave this land to Abraham when he was alone , it would be even more surely their property because of their number . Their claims were based on quantity rather than quality (see # Ez 33:24 ), but the punishment would surely fall if they have turned from God (vv. # Ez 33:25-29 ) .
