ÉZÉKIEL 39 : 1 À 10 ***
1 ¶ Et toi, fils de l’homme, prophétise contre Gog ! Tu diras : Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel : Voici, j’en veux à toi, Gog, Prince de Rosch, de Méschec et de Tubal !
2 Je t’entraînerai, je te conduirai, Je te ferai monter des extrémités du septentrion, Et je t’amènerai sur les montagnes d’Israël.
3 J’abattrai ton arc de ta main gauche, Et je ferai tomber tes flèches de ta main droite.
4 Tu tomberas sur les montagnes d’Israël, Toi et toutes tes troupes, Et les peuples qui seront avec toi ; Aux oiseaux de proie, à tout ce qui a des ailes, Et aux bêtes des champs je te donnerai pour pâture.
5 Tu tomberas sur la face de la terre, Car j’ai parlé, dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.
6 J’enverrai le feu dans Magog, Et parmi ceux qui habitent en sécurité les îles ; Et ils sauront que je suis l’Eternel.
7 Je ferai connaître mon saint nom au milieu de mon peuple d’Israël, Et je ne laisserai plus profaner mon saint nom ; Et les nations sauront que je suis l’Eternel, Le Saint en Israël.
8 ¶ Voici, ces choses viennent, elles arrivent, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel ; C’est le jour dont j’ai parlé.
9 Alors les habitants des villes d’Israël sortiront, Ils brûleront et livreront aux flammes les armes, Les petits et les grands boucliers, Les arcs et les flèches, Les piques et les lances ; Ils en feront du feu pendant sept ans.
10 Ils ne prendront point de bois dans les champs, Et ils n’en couperont point dans les forêts, Car c’est avec les armes qu’ils feront du feu. Ils dépouilleront ceux qui les ont dépouillés, Ils pilleront ceux qui les ont pillés, Dit le Seigneur, l’Eternel.

j’en veux à toi. Cette description de la défaite de l’armée ajoute plusieurs détails à 38:18-23:
1° le désarmement des soldats (v. #Ez 39:3);
2° leur chute dans la mort (vv. #Ez 39:4-5);
3° les oiseaux et les bêtes se repaissant des cadavres (v. #Ez 39:4);
4° le feu précipité sur d’autres que les soldats (v. #Ez 39:6);
5° les armes brûlées par les Israélites (vv. #Ez 39:9-10).

brûleront … les armes. Il y aura assez de matériel pour servir de combustible « pendant sept ans ».

sept ans. Il faudra une grande armée (cf. « grande multitude », 38:15) pour que ses armes prennent sept ans à se consumer. Puisque cet épisode, assimilé à la bataille d’Harmaguédon (#Ap 16: 16 ; #Ap 19:19-21), se situe probablement à la fin de la tribulation, ces brasiers brûleront jusque dans le millénium.

3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand , and will make your arrows drop from your right hand.
4 Thou shalt fall upon Israel , you and all your troops the mountains, and the people who are with you for the birds of prey, everything that has wings , and to the beasts of the field I will give to pasture.
5 Thou shalt fall upon the face of the earth , for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD .
6 I will send fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles : and they shall know that I am the LORD.
7 So will I make my holy name among my people Israel , and I will not let them pollute my holy name the nations will know that I am the LORD , the Holy One in Israel.
8 ¶ Behold, these things come , they come , saith the Lord GOD ; This is the day whereof I have spoken.
9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth , they shall make fires and burn the weapons, both small and large shields , the bows and arrows , spears and Pikes , and they shall make fires of them seven years.
10 They shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut from the forests , because it is with the weapons they will fire . They will strip those who have robbed , they will plunder those who plundered , saith the Lord GOD .

burn ... arms. There will be enough material for fuel " for seven years."

seven. It will take a large army (see " great multitude " , 38:15 ) so that its arms take seven years to burn. Since this episode , similar to the battle of Armageddon ( Rev. # 16: 16 , # Rev 19:19-21 ) is probably at the end of the tribulation , these fires burn into the millennium.
