ÉZÉKIEL 9 : 8-9-10-11 ***
8 Comme ils frappaient, et que je restais encore, je tombai sur ma face, et je m’écriai : Ah ! Seigneur Eternel, détruiras-tu tout ce qui reste d’Israël, en répandant ta fureur sur Jérusalem ?
9 Il me répondit : L’iniquité de la maison d’Israël et de Juda est grande, excessive ; le pays est rempli de meurtres, la ville est pleine d’injustice, car ils disent : L’Eternel a abandonné le pays, l’Eternel ne voit rien.
10 Moi aussi, je serai sans pitié, et je n’aurai point de miséricorde ; je ferai retomber leurs œuvres sur leur tête.
11 Et voici, l’homme vêtu de lin, et portant une écritoire à la ceinture, rendit cette réponse : J’ai fait ce que tu m’as ordonné.

détruiras-tu tout. Ezéchiel fut frappé d’effroi devant la gravité du jugement qui se préparait à tomber sur Jérusalem et sur le pays. Dieu lui répondit qu’un péché aussi éhonté ne pouvait qu’être rétribué par un châtiment d’une exceptionnelle sévérité (vv. #Ez 9:9-10). En revanche, il le rassura par l’affirmation que les fidèles avaient reçu une marque pour être épargnés (vv. #Ez 9:4, #Ez 9:11). Cf. #Ro 11:1-2, #Ro 11:25-27.

8 As they hit , and I was left, that I fell upon my face , and I exclaimed : Ah! Lord God , wilt thou destroy all the residue of Israel , spreading out your wrath on Jerusalem?
9 He answered me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of bloody crimes , and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth , the LORD sees nothing.
10 I also will not spare, neither will I have pity: I will recompense their way upon their head .
11 And behold, the man clothed in linen , and wearing a writing belt , made this reply : I 've done what you commanded me .

wilt thou destroy all. Ezekiel was struck with terror at the seriousness of the judgment that was preparing to fall upon Jerusalem and the country. God answered him as a shameless sin could only be paid by a punishment of exceptional severity ( vv. # Ezra 9:9-10 ) . However, he reassured by the statement that the faithful had received a brand to be saved (vv. # Ez 9:4 , # Eze 9:11 ) . See # Ro 11:1-2 , # Ro 11:25-27 .
