1 ¶ Dieu bénit Noé et ses fils, et leur dit : Soyez féconds, multipliez, et remplissez la terre.
bénit Noé … Soyez féconds, multipliez, et remplissez la terre. Dieu bénit Noé et réitéra son ordre de remplir la terre (#Ge 1:28).
2 Vous serez un sujet de crainte et d’effroi pour tout animal de la terre, pour tout oiseau du ciel, pour tout ce qui se meut sur la terre, et pour tous les poissons de la mer : ils sont livrés entre vos mains.
3 Tout ce qui se meut et qui a vie vous servira de nourriture : je vous donne tout cela comme l’herbe verte
un sujet de crainte. La relation entre l’homme et l’animal semble avoir changé: l’homme est désormais libre de se nourrir des animaux pour vivre
4 Seulement, vous ne mangerez point de chair avec son âme, avec son sang.
sang. Le sang cru ne devait pas être considéré comme de la nourriture, car il symbolisait la vie. Le sang versé symbolisait la mort (cf. #Lé 17: 11). Le sang des animaux, symbole de leur vie, ne devait pas être consommé. C’était en fait lui que Dieu destinait à expier le péché (#Lé 17: 11).
5 Sachez-le aussi, je redemanderai le sang de vos âmes, je le redemanderai à tout animal ; et je redemanderai l’âme de l’homme à l’homme, à l’homme qui est son frère.
animal … homme. La peine capitale était requise pour tout animal (#Ex 21: 28) ou homme qui attentait de façon illégitime à une vie humaine. Cf. #Jn 19: 11 ; #Ac 25:11 ; #Ro 13: 4 pour la perception de ce châtiment dans le N.T.
6 Si quelqu’un verse le sang de l’homme, par l’homme son sang sera versé ; car Dieu a fait l’homme à son image.
à son image. L’homme pouvait tuer des animaux; par contre, ni les animaux ni l’homme ne pouvaient tuer l’homme, parce que lui seul avait été créé à l’image de Dieu.
7 Et vous, soyez féconds et multipliez, répandez-vous sur la terre et multipliez sur elle.
8 ¶ Dieu parla encore à Noé et à ses fils avec lui, en disant:
9 Voici, j’établis mon alliance avec vous et avec votre postérité après vous ;
10 avec tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous, tant les oiseaux que le bétail et tous les animaux de la terre, soit avec tous ceux qui sont sortis de l’arche, soit avec tous les animaux de la terre.
vous … votre postérité … tous les êtres vivants. L’alliance avec Noé comprenait les créatures vivantes, comme promis en #Ge 6:18.
11 J’établis mon alliance avec vous : aucune chair ne sera plus exterminée par les eaux du déluge, et il n’y aura plus de déluge pour détruire la terre.
par les eaux. La promesse spécifique de cette alliance de ne jamais plus détruire le monde par l’eau - a été confirmée par la suite, puisque Dieu a promis de détruire un jour la terre par le feu (#2P 3:10-11 ; #Ap 20: 9 ; #Ap 21: 1).
12 ¶ Et Dieu dit : C’est ici le signe de l’alliance que j’établis entre moi et vous, et tous les êtres vivants qui sont avec vous, pour les générations à toujours:
le signe de l’alliance. L’arc-en-ciel est le rappel symbolique et perpétuel de cette alliance, tout comme la circoncision des hommes pour l’alliance conclue avec Abraham (#Ge 17:10-11).
13 j’ai placé mon arc dans la nue, et il servira de signe d’alliance entre moi et la terre.
9:9-17 C’est la première alliance que Dieu conclut avec l’homme; on parle d’alliance noachique.

blessed Noah ... Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth. God blessed Noah and repeated his order to fill the earth (#Ge 1:28).
2 You will be an object of fear and dread every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, upon all that moves on the earth, and all the fish of the sea are delivered into your hands.
3 Every moving thing that lives will be food: I give you all this as the green herb
a topic of concern. The relationship between man and animal seems to have changed: the man is now free to feed the animals to live
4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, its blood.
blood. The raw blood should not be considered food because it symbolized life. The shed blood symbolized death (cf. Lev # 17: 11). Animal blood, symbol of life, should not be consumed. It was actually him that God destined to atone for sin (# Lev 17: 11).
5 Know this also, I require the blood of your lives, will I require at any animal; and I require the life of man to man, the man who is his brother.
animal ... man. Capital punishment was required for any animal (#Ex 21: 28) or man attentait illegitimately to a human life. #Jn Cf. 19: 11; #AC 25:11; #Ro 13: 4 for the perception of the death penalty in the NT
6 Whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed; for God made man in his own image.
in his image. The man could kill animals; by cons, nor animals nor humans could not kill the man, because he alone had been created in the image of God.
7 And you, be fruitful and multiply, bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.
¶ 8 God spoke to Noah and to his son with him, saying,
9 Behold, I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you;
10 And with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the cattle, and every beast of the earth with all that came out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.
... you ... your seed all living beings. The covenant with Noah included living creatures, as promised in #Ge 6:18.
11 I establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood, and there will be a flood to destroy the earth.
by water. The specific promise of this covenant to never again destroy the world by water - was subsequently confirmed, since God has promised to one day destroy the earth by fire (2P # 3: 10-11; 20 #Ap : 9; #Ap 21: 1).
12 ¶ And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
the sign of the covenant. The Rainbow is the symbolic and perpetual reminder of this covenant, like male circumcision for the Abrahamic covenant (#Ge 17: 10-11).
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
9: 9-17 This is the first covenant that God made with man; we speak of Noahide covenant.
