Give God the respect he deserves
Patrice Martorano
"If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the fear we have of me? Saith the LORD of hosts." Malachi 1.6
To take the floor against a church during multiple decades, presented God as cold, austere and impassive, some threw themselves into the other extreme and showed the Lord as their "buddy."
Have a deep respect for God's presence. This notion-there is yet absent in the Bible! Abraham, Moses, Jeremiah, Peter and John or the Apostle Paul never had in their dialogue with God, this "how cronyism" approach. God is God, he deserves our fear and respect.
A vision of lightness is very harmful and even dangerous over time as it removes all due reverence to our Lord. The Bible states that "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 1:7).
Whether in the book of Exodus (chapter 19), describing the people preparing to enter into communion with God or in the Epistle to the Hebrews when it is described how we must come to God, "in the sincerity, faith, purified by the blood of Jesus conscience and washed with pure water body "(Hebrews 10.22) from the Old to the New Testament, the different ways of approaching God are all reverent.
It would be incorrect to approach the Lord casually and lightness. Have a deep respect for God's presence. Incline your hearts to His holiness and realize the grace and privilege that gives you giving you access to its holy presence.
A Prayer for Today
Father is with a heart full of joy and full of reverence that I approach you. On this day, I ask you to help me have more respect for you because you are my God and I love you. Amen.
