1 ¶ La seconde part échut par le sort à Siméon, à la tribu des fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles. Leur héritage était au milieu de l’héritage des fils de Juda.
19:1-9
Siméon. La région attribuée à Siméon correspondait au sud du territoire de Juda, puisque cette dernière avait reçu un héritage trop grand pour elle (verset #Jos 19: 9).
2 Ils eurent dans leur héritage : Beer-Schéba, Schéba, Molada,
3 Hatsar-Schual, Bala, Atsem,
4 Eltholad, Bethul, Horma,
5 Tsiklag, Beth-Marcaboth, Hatsar-Susa,
6 Beth-Lebaoth et Scharuchen, treize villes, et leurs villages ;
7 Aïn, Rimmon, Ether, et Aschan, quatre villes, et leurs villages ;
8 et tous les villages aux environs de ces villes, jusqu’à Baalath-Beer, qui est Ramath du midi. Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils de Siméon, selon leurs familles.
9 L’héritage des fils de Siméon fut pris sur la portion des fils de Juda ; car la portion des fils de Juda était trop grande pour eux, et c’est au milieu de leur héritage que les fils de Siméon reçurent le leur.
10 ¶ La troisième part échut par le sort aux fils de Zabulon, selon leurs familles. (19-11) La limite de leur héritage s’étendait jusqu’à Sarid.
19:10-16
Zabulon. L’héritage de cette tribu se trouvait à l’ouest de la mer de Kinnéreth (ou mer de Galilée) et s’étendait jusqu’à la Méditerranée.
11 Elle montait à l’occident vers Mareala, et touchait à Dabbéscheth, puis au torrent qui coule devant Jokneam.
12 De Sarid elle tournait à l’orient, vers le soleil levant, jusqu’à la frontière de Kisloth-Thabor, continuait à Dabrath, et montait à Japhia.
13 De là elle passait à l’orient par Guittha-Hépher, par Ittha-Katsin, continuait à Rimmon, et se prolongeait jusqu’à Néa.
14 Elle tournait ensuite du côté du nord vers Hannathon, et aboutissait à la vallée de Jiphthach-El.
15 De plus, Katthath, Nahalal, Schimron, Jideala, Bethléhem. Douze villes, et leurs villages.
16 Tel fut l’héritage des fils de Zabulon, selon leurs familles, ces villes-là et leurs villages.
17 ¶ La quatrième part échut par le sort à Issacar, aux fils d’Issacar, selon leurs familles.
19:17-23
Issacar. Son territoire s’étendait du Jourdain au mont Thabor, au sud de la mer de Galilée et au nord du territoire de Manassé. Il contournait Meguiddo.
18 Leur limite passait par Jizreel, Kesulloth, Sunem,
19 Hapharaïm, Schion, Anacharath,
20 Rabbith, Kischjon, Abets,
21 Rémeth, En-Gannim, En-Hadda, et Beth-Patsets ;
22 elle touchait à Thabor, à Schachatsima, à Beth-Schémesch, et aboutissait au Jourdain. Seize villes, et leurs villages.
23 Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils d’Issacar, selon leurs familles, ces villes-là et leurs villages.
24 ¶ La cinquième part échut par le sort à la tribu des fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles.
19:24-31
Aser. Ce territoire formait une longue et large bande le long de la Méditerranée. Il était en outre délimité par la chaîne du mont Carmel au sud, les tribus de Zabulon et de Nephthali à l’est et le territoire de Tyr au nord.
25 Leur limite passait par Helkath, Hali, Béthen, Acschaph,
26 Allammélec, Amead et Mischeal ; elle touchait, vers l’occident, au Carmel et au Schichor-Libnath ;
27 puis elle tournait du côté de l’orient à Beth-Dagon, atteignait Zabulon et la vallée de Jiphthach-El au nord de Beth-Emek et de Neïel, et se prolongeait vers Cabul, à gauche,
28 et vers Ebron, Rehob, Hammon et Kana, jusqu’à Sidon la grande.
29 Elle tournait ensuite vers Rama jusqu’à la ville forte de Tyr, et vers Hosa, pour aboutir à la mer, par la contrée d’Aczib.
30 De plus, Umma, Aphek et Rehob. Vingt-deux villes, et leurs villages.
31 Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils d’Aser, selon leurs familles, ces villes-là et leurs villages.
32 ¶ La sixième part échut par le sort aux fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles.
19:32-39
Nephthali. Cette tribu occupait une longue bande de terre. À l’ouest se trouvait Aser, au sud Zabulon. La mer de Galilée et le Jourdain faisaient frontière à l’est jusqu’au territoire d’Issacar. Son héritage comprenait la ville de Hatsor et bordait les Danites du nord. Le ministère de Jésus en Galilée s’exerça principalement dans cette région (#Esa 9:1-2 ; #Mt 4:13-17).
33 Leur limite s’étendait depuis Héleph, depuis Allon, par Tsaanannim, Adami-Nékeb et Jabneel, jusqu’à Lakkum, et elle aboutissait au Jourdain.
Allon, par. Ou « le chêne qui se trouve à ». Il s’agissait d’un chêne (ou d’une forêt de chênes, si l’on prend le mot dans un sens collectif, comme en #Ge 12:6) près de Kédesch, au nord-ouest des eaux de Mérom. D’après #Jug 4:11, c’est là que Jaël tua Sisera à l’aide d’un marteau et d’un pieu (#Jug 4:21).
34 Elle tournait vers l’occident à Aznoth-Thabor, et de là continuait à Hukkok ; elle touchait à Zabulon du côté du midi, à Aser du côté de l’occident, et à Juda ; le Jourdain était du côté de l’orient.
35 Les villes fortes étaient : Tsiddim, Tser, Hammath, Rakkath, Kinnéreth,
36 Adama, Rama, Hatsor,
37 Kédesch, Edréï, En-Hatsor,
38 Jireon, Migdal-El, Horem, Beth-Anath et Beth-Schémesch. Dix-neuf villes, et leurs villages.
39 Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils de Nephthali, selon leurs familles, ces villes-là et leurs villages.
40 ¶ La septième part échut par le sort à la tribu des fils de Dan, selon leurs familles.
19:40-48
Dan. Le territoire de cette tribu était étroit, en forme grossière de U, au nord de Juda et au sud d’Éphraïm. La côte méditerranéenne se trouvait à l’ouest. Japho (ou Joppé) se situait sur cette côte, au nord. En raison de leur échec à prendre possession de leur héritage (#Jug 1:34-36), il y eut une migration des membres de cette tribu en direction du nord-est, vers Laïs ou Léschem (#Jos 19: 47). Ils parvinrent à conquérir cette région, située au nord de la mer de Galilée et de Hatsor, et l’appelèrent Dan (versets #Jos 19:47-48 ; #Jug 18:27-29).
41 La limite de leur héritage comprenait Tsorea, Eschthaol, Ir-Schémesch,
42 Schaalabbin, Ajalon, Jithla,
43 Elon, Thimnatha, Ekron,
44 Eltheké, Guibbethon, Baalath,
45 Jehud, Bené-Berak, Gath-Rimmon,
46 Mé-Jarkon et Rakkon, avec le territoire vis-à-vis de Japho.
47 Le territoire des fils de Dan s’étendait hors de chez eux. Les fils de Dan montèrent et combattirent contre Léschem ; ils s’en emparèrent et la frappèrent du tranchant de l’épée ; ils en prirent possession, s’y établirent, et l’appelèrent Dan, du nom de Dan, leur père.
48 Tel fut l’héritage de la tribu des fils de Dan, selon leurs familles, ces villes-là et leurs villages.
49 ¶ Lorsqu’ils eurent achevé de faire le partage du pays, d’après ses limites, les enfants d’Israël donnèrent à Josué, fils de Nun, une possession au milieu d’eux.
19:49-50
Josué reçut son propre territoire de la part des Israélites. C’était une contrée qu’il aimait dans la région montagneuse d’Éphraïm, sa tribu (#No 13: 8). Il bâtit une ville, Thimnath-Sérach, à près de 26 km au sud-ouest de Sichem. Cet héritage faisait partie intégrante de la promesse que Dieu lui avait faite, tout comme l’héritage de Caleb (#No 14: 30).
50 Selon l’ordre de l’Éternel, ils lui donnèrent la ville qu’il demanda, Thimnath-Sérach, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm. Il rebâtit la ville, et y fit sa demeure.
51 Tels sont les héritages que le sacrificateur Eléazar, Josué, fils de Nun, et les chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d’Israël, distribuèrent par le sort devant l’Éternel à Silo, à l’entrée de la tente d’assignation. Ils achevèrent ainsi le partage du pays.

1 ¶ And the second expired forth to Simeon, to the tribe of the son of Simeon according to their families. Their inheritance was within the inheritance of the son of Judah.
19: 1-9
Simeon. The area attributed to Simeon corresponded to the south of the territory of Judah, since the latter had been too great legacy for her (verse #Jos 19: 9).
2 And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, Sheba, Moladah,
3 Hazar Shual, Bala, Atsem,
4 Eltholad, Bethul, Horma,
5 Ziklag, Beth Marcaboth, Hazar-Susa,
6 Beth Lebaoth and Sharuhen thirteen cities and their villages;
7 Ain, Rimmon, Ether, and Ashan: four cities and their villages;
8 and all the villages around these cities to Baalath-beer, Ramah of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the son of Simeon according to their families.
9 The inheritance of the son of Simeon was taken from the portion of the son of Judah; because the portion of the son of Judah was too much for them, and that is in the midst of their inheritance as the son of Simeon received theirs.
¶ 10 The third lot came out to the son of Zebulun according to their families. (19-11) The border of their inheritance was unto Sarid.
19: 10-16
Zebulun. The legacy of this tribe was located west of the Sea of Chinnereth (or Sea of Galilee) and extended to the Mediterranean.
11 She went up westward to Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the torrent that is before Jokneam.
12 And turned from Sarid eastward, toward the sunrise, to the border of Chisloth Tabor, to Daberath and up to Japhia.
13 From there it passed eastward to Gath-Hepher, to Ittha-Katsin, went out at Rimmon and dragged to Neah.
14 It then turned on the north to Hannathon and ended at the Iphtah-el Valley.
15 In addition, Katthath, Nahalal, Shimron, Idalah, Bethlehem. Twelve cities with their villages.
16 This is the inheritance of the son of Zebulun according to their families, these cities and their villages.
¶ 17 The fourth lot came out to Issachar, the son of Issachar according to their families.
19: 17-23
Issachar. Its territory extended to the Jordan Tabor, south of the Sea of Galilee and north of the territory of Manasseh. He skirted Megiddo.
18 And their border was Jezreel, Chesulloth, Shunem,
19 Hapharaïm, Schion, Anacharath,
20 Rabbith, Kischjon, Abets,
21 Rémeth, Engannim, In-Hadda, and Beth-Patsets;
22 it touched Tabor, to Schachatsima at Beth Shemesh, and ended at the Jordan. Sixteen cities with their villages.
23 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the son of Issachar according to their families, these cities and their villages.
¶ 24 The fifth lot came out for the tribe of the son of Asher according to their families.
19: 24-31
Asher. This territory formed a long, wide strip along the Mediterranean. It was further delineated by the chain of Mount Carmel to the south, the tribes of Zebulun and Naphtali east and north coasts of Tyre.
25 And their border was Helkath, Hali, Bethen, Achshaph,
26 Allammélec, Amead and Mishal; she touched, westward to Carmel and Shihor-libnath;
27 then she turned toward the east to Beth Dagon, and reached to Zebulun and the Iphtah-el Valley north of Beth Emek and Neiel, and to Cabul on the left,
28 and to Ebron, Rehob, Hammon and Kanah, to great Sidon.
29 She then turned to Ramah and to the strong city of Tyre, and to Hosa, leading to the sea by the region of Achzib.
30 Ummah, Aphek and Rehob. Twenty-two cities and their villages.
31 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the son of Asher according to their families, these cities and their villages.
32 ¶ The sixth lot came out to the son of Naphtali according to their families.
19: 32-39
Naphtali. This tribe occupied a long strip of land. To the west lay Asher, Zebulun south. The Sea of Galilee and the Jordan River were border eastward to the territory of Issachar. His legacy included the city of Hazor and lined the northern Danites. Jesus' ministry in Galilee was exercised primarily in this region (#Esa 9: 1-2; #Mt 4: 13-17).
33 Their boundary extended from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb and Jabneel to Lakkum, and it ended at the Jordan.
Allon to. Or "oak that is." It was an oak (or an oak forest, if we take the word in a collective sense, as #Ge 12: 6) by Kedesh, northwest of the waters of Merom. According #Jug 4:11, that's when Jael killed Sisera with a hammer and a stake (#Jug 4:21).
34 It turned westward to Aznoth Tabor, and from there continued to Hukkok; it reached to Zebulun on the south, to Asher on the west, and Judah; Jordan was on the side of the east.
35 The fortified cities were Tsiddim, TSER, Hammath, Rakkath, Chinnereth
36 Adama, Rama, Hazor
37 Kedesh, Edrei, En-Hazor,
38 Jireon, Migdal-El, Horem, Beth Anath and Beth Shemesh. Nineteen cities with their villages.
39 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the son of Naphtali according to their families, these cities and their villages.
¶ 40 The seventh lot came out for the tribe of the son of Dan according to their families.
19: 40-48
Dan. The territory of this tribe was narrow, coarse U-shaped, north of Judah and Ephraim south. The Mediterranean coast was in the west. Joppa (or Joppa) was located on the coast north. Because of their failure to take possession of their inheritance (#Jug 1: 34-36), there was a migration of members of this tribe in the north-east towards Lais or Léschem (#Jos 19: 47). They managed to conquer this region, north of the Sea of Galilee and Hazor, and called Dan (#Jos verses 19: 47-48; #Jug 18: 27-29).
41 The border of their inheritance was Zorah, Eshtaol, Ir Shemesh,
42 Schaalabbin, Aijalon Jithla,
43 Elon Thimnatha, Ekron,
44 Eltekeh, Gibbethon, Baalath,
45 Jehud, Bene Berak, Gath Rimmon
46 Me-Jarkon and Rakkon, with the vis-à-vis Japho.
47 The territory of Dan's son stretched away from home. The son of Dan went up and fought against Léschem; they took it and struck it with the edge of the sword; they possessed it, settled there, and called it Dan, the name of Dan their father.
48 This is the inheritance of the tribe of the son of Dan according to their families, these cities and their villages.
49 ¶ When they had completed to divide the land, according to its boundaries, the Israelites gave Joshua son of Nun an inheritance among them.
19: 49-50
Joshua received his own territory from the Israelites. It was a country he loved in the mountainous region of Ephraim, tribe (#No 13: 8). He built a city, Timnathserah, about 26 km southwest of Shechem. This heritage was part of the promise God had made to him, as the inheritance of Caleb (#No 14: 30).
50 According to the commandment of the LORD they gave him the city which he asked, Timnath-Serah in Mount Ephraim. He built the city, and dwelt therein.
51 These are the inheritances which Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of families of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed by lot in Shiloh before Jehovah, at the entrance of the tent . So they finished dividing the land.
