1 ¶ Les chefs de la famille de Galaad, fils de Makir, fils de Manassé, d’entre les familles des fils de Joseph, s’approchèrent et parlèrent devant Moïse et devant les princes, chefs de famille des enfants d’Israël.
36:1-13 Le problème soulevé ici faisait suite à la décision concernant l’héritage accordé aux femmes en #No 27:1-11. Puisqu’une tribu risquait de perdre une partie de son territoire l’année du jubilé, dans le cas où une héritière avait épousé un membre d’une autre tribu, la femme désireuse d’hériter d’une terre devait se marier au sein de sa propre tribu.
2 Ils dirent : L’Éternel a ordonné à mon seigneur de donner le pays en héritage par le sort aux enfants d’Israël. Mon seigneur a aussi reçu de l’Éternel l’ordre de donner l’héritage de Tselophchad, notre frère, à ses filles.
3 Si elles se marient à l’un des fils d’une autre tribu des enfants d’Israël, leur héritage sera retranché de l’héritage de nos pères et ajouté à celui de la tribu à laquelle elles appartiendront ; ainsi sera diminué l’héritage qui nous est échu par le sort.
4 Et quand viendra le jubilé pour les enfants d’Israël, leur héritage sera ajouté à celui de la tribu à laquelle elles appartiendront, et il sera retranché de celui de la tribu de nos pères.
5 ¶ Moïse transmit aux enfants d’Israël les ordres de l’Éternel. Il dit : La tribu des fils de Joseph a raison.
6 Voici ce que l’Éternel ordonne au sujet des filles de Tselophchad : elles se marieront à qui elles voudront, pourvu qu’elles se marient dans une famille de la tribu de leurs pères.
7 Aucun héritage parmi les enfants d’Israël ne passera d’une tribu à une autre tribu, mais les enfants d’Israël s’attacheront chacun à l’héritage de la tribu de ses pères.
8 Et toute fille, possédant un héritage dans les tribus des enfants d’Israël, se mariera à quelqu’un d’une famille de la tribu de son père, afin que les enfants d’Israël possèdent chacun l’héritage de leurs pères.
9 Aucun héritage ne passera d’une tribu à une autre tribu, mais les tribus des enfants d’Israël s’attacheront chacune à son héritage.
10 Les filles de Tselophchad se conformèrent à l’ordre que l’Éternel avait donné à Moïse.
11 Machla, Thirtsa, Hogla, Milca et Noa, filles de Tselophchad, se marièrent aux fils de leurs oncles ;
12 elles se marièrent dans les familles des fils de Manassé, fils de Joseph, et leur héritage resta dans la tribu de la famille de leur père.
elles se marièrent dans … Manassé. Les filles de Tselophchad furent des exemples en matière d’obéissance aux commandements de Dieu pour tout Israël. L’héritage qu’elles reçurent était le fruit direct de leur obéissance à l’Éternel; c’est une leçon fondamentale soulignée tout au long du livre des Nombres.
13 Tels sont les commandements et les lois que l’Éternel donna par Moïse aux enfants d’Israël, dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.

1 ¶ The heads of the family of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, of the families of the son of Joseph, came and spoke before Moses, and before the princes, heads of the children of Israel.
36: 1-13 The problem raised here followed the decision on the legacy of Women in #No 27: 1-11. Since a tribe could lose part of its territory the jubilee year, if an heiress married a member of another tribe, the woman wishing to inherit land had to marry within his own tribe.
2 They said, The LORD commanded my lord to give the land for inheritance by lot to the children of Israel. My lord was the order of the Lord to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.
3 If they be married to a son of another Israelite tribe, their inheritance be taken away from the inheritance of our fathers and added to that of the tribe to which they belong; will be decreased and the inheritance that is due us by fate.
4 And when the jubilee of the children of Israel, their inheritance will be added to that of the tribe to which they belong, and it will be deducted from that of the tribe of our fathers.
5 ¶ And Moses commanded the children of Israel the orders of the Lord. He said: Tribe son of Joseph is right.
6 This is what the Lord commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad: They marry whom they please, providing they marry into a family of the tribe of their fathers.
7 No inheritance of the children of Israel remove from tribe to tribe, but the children of Israel were each joined to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
8 And every daughter who possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the children of Israel, marrying someone from a family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel possess each the inheritance of their fathers.
9 No inheritance remove from one tribe to another tribe, but the tribes of the children of Israel shall cleave to his own inheritance.
10 The daughters of Zelophehad did according to the order which the Lord had commanded Moses.
11 Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their son uncles;
12 They were married into the families of the son of Manasseh, son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
they were married in ... Manasseh. The daughters of Zelophehad were examples in terms of obedience to God's commandments for all Israel. The inheritance they received was the direct result of their obedience to the Lord; it is a fundamental lesson emphasized throughout the book of Numbers.
13 These are the commandments and laws that the LORD gave through Moses to the Israelites in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, opposite to Jericho.
