1 ¶ Psaume de louange. Poussez vers l’Éternel des cris de joie, Vous tous, habitants de la terre !
100:1-5
Ce psaume bien connu met l’accent sur le caractère universel du règne de Dieu et forme la bénédiction qui conclut la série de psaumes traitant du royaume du Seigneur (#Ps 93 ; #Ps 95:1-100:2). C’est en grande partie un appel à la louange et à la reconnaissance, avec la formulation, aux vv. 3 et 5, des raisons d’une telle attitude.

cris de joie. Cris exprimant la loyauté et l’hommage rendu, comme en #1S 10:24.
2 Servez l’Éternel, avec joie, Venez avec allégresse en sa présence !
3 Sachez que l’Éternel est Dieu ! C’est lui qui nous a faits, et nous lui appartenons ; Nous sommes son peuple, et le troupeau de son pâturage.
Sachez. C’est-à-dire faites-en l’expérience et soyez totalement assurés de cette vérité.
l’Éternel est Dieu. Affirmation que le Dieu d’Israël, l’Éternel, est le seul vrai Dieu.
nous a faits. Allusion soit à la création des êtres humains, soit, plus probablement ici, à la manière dont Dieu avait formé Israël et dont il le bénissait (cf. #De 32:6, #De 32:15 ; #Ps 95:6 ; #Esa 29:22-23 ; #Esa 44:2).
son peuple, et le troupeau. L’image du berger était fréquemment utilisée pour décrire le roi d’Israël ainsi que le Seigneur (cf. #Ps 78:70-71 ; #Esa 44:28 ; #Jér 10:21 ; #Za 10:3 ; #Za 11:4-17 ; voir aussi #Ps 23: 1 ; #Ps 28:9 ; #Ps 74:1 ; #Ps 77:20 ; #Ps 78:52-53 ; #Ps 80:2 ; #Ps 95:7). Elle évoquait les soins attentifs prodigués (cf. #Lu 15:3-6). Selon le N.T., le Seigneur est aussi le berger des croyants de l’ère de l’Église (#Jn 10:16).
4 Entrez dans ses portes avec des louanges, Dans ses parvis avec des cantiques ! Célébrez-le, bénissez son nom !

5 Car l’Éternel est bon ; sa bonté dure toujours, Et sa fidélité de génération en génération.
l’Éternel est bon. Dieu est la source et le parfait exemple de la bonté.
sa fidélité. Ou « sa vérité ». Allusion au fait que l’Éternel tient ses promesses.

1 ¶ Psalm of praise. Push to the Lord shouts of joy, all you inhabitants of the earth!
100: 1-5
This well-known psalm emphasizes the universal character of the reign of God and forms the blessing that concludes the series of psalms dealing with the kingdom of the Lord (Psalm 93: #Ps 95: 1-100: 2). It is largely a call to praise and recognition, with the formulation, to the vv. 3 and 5, of the reasons for such an attitude.

2 Serve the LORD with joy, Come with joy in his presence!
3 Know that the Lord is God! It is he who has made us, and we belong to him; We are his people, and the flock of his pasture.
Know. That is to say to make the experience and to be totally assured of this truth.
The Lord is God. Affirmation that the God of Israel, the Lord, is the only true God.
Has made us. Allusion either to the creation of human beings, or, more probably here, to the manner in which God had formed Israel and blessed it (cf. # 32: 6, # 32:15, #Ps 95: 6; Esa 29: 22-23; Esha 44: 2).
His people, and the flock. The image of the shepherd was frequently used to describe the king of Israel as well as the Lord (cf. Ps 78: 70-71, #Esa 44:28; # Jer 10:21; # Za 10: 3; 11: 4-17, see also #Ps 23: 1, #Ps 28: 9, #Ps 74: 1, #Ps 77:20, #Ps 78: 52-53, #Ps 80: 2, 7). It evoked the careful care lavished (cf #Lu 15: 3-6). According to N.T, the Lord is also the shepherd of the believers of the era of the Church (#Jn 10:16).
4 Enter into his gates with praise, in his courts with songs! Celebrate it, bless its name!
Its doors ... its courts. That is, the doors and forecourt of the temple.
5 For the LORD is good; His goodness endures forever, and his fidelity from generation to generation.
The Lord is good. God is the source and the perfect example of goodness.
His fidelity. Or "its truth". Allusion to the fact that the Lord is keeping His promises.
