1 ¶ (108-1) Cantique. Psaume de David. (108-2) Mon cœur est affermi, ô Dieu ! Je chanterai, je ferai retentir mes instruments : c’est ma gloire !
108:1-14
Pour commémorer les victoires remportées grâce à Dieu, David composa ce psaume en combinant des portions des #Ps 57 et #Ps 60, textes qu’il avait lui-même rédigés antérieurement (les vv. #Ps 108:2-6 sont tirés de #Ps 57:8-11 ; les vv. #Ps 108:6-13 de #Ps 60:5-12). Il supprima les lamentations qui ouvraient chacun de ces psaumes (#Ps 57:2-7 et #Ps 60:3-6) et y ajouta ses propres paroles d’exaltation et de confiance en Dieu, avec quelques variations lexicales. Ce psaume n’est explicitement lié à aucun fait historique précis.

8 (108-9) A moi Galaad, à moi Manassé ; Éphraïm est le rempart de ma tête, Et Juda, mon sceptre ;
9 (108-10) Moab est le bassin où je me lave ; Je jette mon soulier sur Edom ; Je pousse des cris de joie sur le pays des Philistins !

To commemorate the victories won by God, David composed this psalm by combining portions of #Ps 57 and #Ps 60, texts he had himself written previously (vv. #Ps 108: 2-6 are taken from #Ps 57: 8-11; vv. #Ps 108: 6-13 from #Ps 60: 5-12). He suppressed the lamentations that opened each of these psalms (#Ps 57: 2-7 and #Ps 60: 3-6) and added his own words of exaltation and trust in God, with some lexical variations. This psalm is not explicitly linked to any specific historical fact.

7 (108-8) God said in his holiness, "I will triumph; I will divide Shechem; I will measure the valley of Succoth;
8 (108-9) To me Galaad, to me Manasseh; Ephraim is the bulwark of my head, and Judah my scepter;
9 (108-10) Moab is the basin where I wash myself; I throw my shoe on Edom; I shout for joy on the land of the Philistines!
10 (108-11) Who will lead me into the strong city? Who leads me to Edom?
11 (108-12) Is it not thou, O God, who hast rejected us, and went out no more, O God, with our armies?
12 (108-13) Give us relief from distress! The help of man is nothing but vanity.
13 (108-14) With God we will do deeds; He will crush our enemies.
